Winter in Sequoia and Kings Canyon is a magical time of year. Blankets of snow cover the landscape and create a wonderland of new adventures and activities. Snowfall changes everything at Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks, adding scenic drama as it opens up new playgrounds of winter sport options. At the parks’ two mountain lodges, Wuksachi Lodge in Sequoia and John Muir Lodge in Kings Canyon, are the perfect base camps to explore all the season has to offer, creating the perfect conditions for a Sierra winter getaway. Under the snowy branches of the big trees, Sequoia and Kings Canyon make for a magical winter wonderland.

As winter slowly approaches us, the views and landscape won’t be the only thing that astonishes us, there are also winter activities! Skiing to sledding to an all out snowball fight, the activities will keep you going for hours. Another amazing activity is snowshoeing. Walking amongst giant sequoias which are covered in snow is an experience you will never forget! All the wonderful snow and beautiful scenery will keep people of all ages enjoying throughout their time there. Even though there is Covid out there, precautions will still be needed. Don’t worry! This happens once a year, so try to make the most out of your stay at the Sequoia National Park!

The Sequoia National Park was established all the way back in 1890, by John Muir. John Muir created and designed the Sequoia National Park, all for the purpose of our wildlife and nature. This monumental park extends to ~400,000 acres! It holds many species of wildlife and nature. The gigantic trees are around 1 ½ feet thick, and grow to be an enormous 250 feet! The Kings Canyon, which rests beside Sequoia National Park, hosts the biggest grove of sequoia trees in the world and is also home to the Redwood Canyon. Let’s give a big thanks to John Muir for creating the Sequoia National Park, as it is absolutely fabulous.

As you can see, The Sequoia National Park is the best place to spend your winter. With all the amazing snow and activities, you will have your time well spent! Even if you get cold during your stay, you can spend your evenings warming up around the roaring fireplace in the Great Room lobby of the John Muir Lodge. If you ask me, The Sequoia National Park is the perfect Winter Wonderland!
